Mid-Day Meal Scheme and BaLA Concept
Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Maloya, Chandigarh

At Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Maloya, Chandigarh, we believe that a child’s ability to learn and grow is deeply linked to their health and nutrition. That is why we actively implement the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at enhancing the nutritional status of school-going children.

Under this scheme, our school provides fresh, hygienic, and nutritious meals to students of the primary and upper primary sections. The meals are prepared under strict supervision, ensuring cleanliness, quality, and balanced nutrition. This initiative not only helps in reducing classroom hunger but also encourages regular school attendance, enhances student concentration, and promotes social equality among children from different backgrounds.

In addition to nourishing the body, our school also focuses on stimulating young minds through innovative educational methods. One such unique approach is the BaLA ConceptBuilding as Learning Aid. BaLA is an initiative that transforms the physical space of the school into a creative learning environment by using the school building itself as a teaching tool.

At GMSSS Maloya, colorful and informative wall paintings, floor markings, mathematical shapes, puzzles, alphabets, and science diagrams are integrated into the school’s infrastructure. These visual aids turn walls, doors, staircases, and playgrounds into learning zones, making education interactive, joyful, and accessible for all learners.

Through BaLA, complex academic concepts are simplified and made engaging, especially for visual and kinesthetic learners. This approach not only improves the quality of education but also makes the school environment more vibrant, child-friendly, and inclusive.

Together, the Mid-Day Meal Scheme and the BaLA concept reflect our school’s commitment to holistic child development—nurturing both the body and the mind. We ensure that every child who walks through our gates receives the care, nutrition, and innovative education they deserve to thrive and succeed in life.
